Triple Canopy

Triple Canopy

Triple Canopy was an American private military company based in Herndon, Virginia, with offices in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and Nigeria.[1]

History

Triple Canopy was founded in Chicago, Illinois in September 2003 by Thomas Katis and Matthew Mann.[2] In 2005, the company's corporate headquarters was relocated to Herndon, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C.[1:1]

In June 2007, Triple Canopy acquired Clayton Consultants.[1:2]

On April 1, 2009, United States Department of State acting deputy spokesman Gordon Duguid announced that it had reassigned Blackwater's contracts for security services in Iraq to Triple Canopy.[3]

Constellis merger

In early June 2014, Triple Canopy merged with Academi (formerly known as Blackwater) to create Constellis Holdings,[4] which subsequently announced on June 6, 2014 that it would acquire Constellis Group and its holdings, creating a new combined conglomerate.[5]
