Legal Aid BC, formerly the Legal Services Society (LSS), is a Canadian nonprofit organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is a provincial Crown corporation owned by the Government of British Columbia.[1]
History
The organization was founded in 1979 through the Legal Services Society Act.[1:1]
COVID-19
Following the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic, the LSS changed its name to Legal Aid BC.[2] On April 24, 2020, the British Columbia Ministry of Attorney General announced the creation of the Justice COVID-19 Response Group with Legal Aid BC as a member.[3]
