African Communities of Manitoba Inc. (ACOMI) is a Canadian nonprofit organization based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
COVID-19
ACOMI received significant funding to promote COVID-19 vaccines during the declared COVID-19 pandemic.
It received a $50,000 CAD grant in July 2021 from the Government of Canada for a project titled “ACOMI WE BELONG COMMUNITY VACCINE ADVOCATES PROJECT.”[1] It was awarded through a grant program called “Encouraging Vaccine Confidence in Canada” jointly administered by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).[2]
ACOMI also received a $10,000 grant from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) through its Vaccine Community Innovation Challenge for a project titled “40 Community Champions,” and a second $10,000 grant for a project titled “We Belong - Vaccine Booster Advocate Project.”[3]
