Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre

Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) is a Canadian acute care hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

History

The hospital experienced a significant increase in demand for emergency care in the later stages of the declared COVID-19 pandemic, with the rate of patients arriving by ambulance nearly doubling between February and August 2022.[1]

Funding

TBRHSC raises funds through the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.

In 2021/2022, the TBRHSC received $27.1 million in additional COVID-19-related funding from the Government of Ontario, allowing the hospital to finish the fiscal year with a $5.8 million surplus.[2]
