Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada

The Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada (FMRAC) is a Canadian national regulatory association based in Ottawa, Ontario.

Its ostensible purpose is to provide a national structure for its affiliated provincial and territorial medical regulatory authorities to present and pursue issues of common concern and interest; to share, consider and develop positions on such matters; and to develop services and benefits for its members.[1]

History

FMRAC co-hosted the 10th International Conference on Medical Regulation with the Medical Council of Canada, which took place October 2-5, 2012 at the Ottawa Convention Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.[2]

10 of the 12 agencies listed on FMRAC’s website are domestic to Canada; the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) is American, and the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA) operates globally.
