BCPS Employees for Freedom Society

BCPS Employees for Freedom Society is a Canadian not-for-profit society based in the Province of British Columbia. The group's stated purpose is to defend bodily autonomy and medical privacy for all peoples in BC.[1]

History

The organization was formed in October 2021 by a group of public service employees working in a variety of public positions including education, healthcare, children and family services, Indigenous relations, the environment, economic and social development, infrastructure, agriculture, energy and natural resources, public safety and others.[2]

On October 30, 2023, BC Public Service (BCPS) employee Jason Baldwin filed a notice of civil claim in the Supreme Court of British Columbia against the Government of British Columbia and Provincial Health Officer Bonnie Henry under the Class Proceedings Act related to the province's mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy.[3] The class action suit was announced on November 29, 2023 by Angela Cardoso, vice president of BCPS Employees for Freedom Society.[4][5]

Certification hearings for the class action began on April 28, 2025, alongside a similar suit filed by United Health Care Workers of BC. Both groups are represented by Umar Sheikh of Sheikh Law.[6]
