Baktus, Inc. is an American technology company based in Menlo Park, California, registered in Delaware.[1] It is the parent company of Metabiota.
History
Baktus was incorporated in New Castle, Delaware on June 14, 2021 by the Corporation Trust Company.[2] A California branch of the company was incorporated on August 12, 2021.[3] On September 30, 2021, a separate company called Baktus Acquisition Corporation was merged into Metabiota.[4]
On August 19, 2022, Ginkgo Bioworks announced it would purchase "certain epidemiological data infrastructure assets" from Metabiota and Baktus. Metabiota's CEO, Nita Madhav, transferred to Ginkgo Bioworks as part of the transaction, and the assets would be applied to Ginkgo's Concentric public health initiative.[5]
