> ## Content Index > Fetch the complete content index at: https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/llms.txt > Use this file to discover other available public pages before exploring further. # Toronto Public Health - URL: https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/toronto-public-health/ - Published: 1999-01-03T01:32:00.000Z - Updated: 2025-07-12T23:25:03.000Z - Author: Liam Sturgess - Tags: Profiles, #docs, #organization **Toronto Public Health (TPH)** is a government agency of the City of Toronto responsible for delivering public health programs and services, enforcing public health regulations and advising Toronto City Council on health issues. ## History Toronto Public Health collaborated with the University of Toronto to interpret self-reported symptom data provided by the [COVID Near You](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/COVID-Near-You) platform, based out of Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital.[\[1\]](#fn1) The platform was launched in Canada on April 3, 2020,[\[2\]](#fn2) with results of the analysis shared with the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Centers-for-Disease-Control-and-Prevention) (CDC).[\[3\]](#fn3) On September 11, 2020, the [Public Health Agency of Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Public-Health-Agency-of-Canada) announced $13.9 million in funding for TPH to establish a "voluntary self-isolation centre" for eligible residents facing "difficulty properly isolating themselves."[\[4\]](#fn4) The Toronto Voluntary Isolation Centre officially opened the following day in a converted hotel.[\[5\]](#fn5)[\[6\]](#fn6) TPH administered the facility, including identifying eligible cases.[\[7\]](#fn7) South Asian communities within Toronto Public Health's jurisdiction were targeted for a COVID-19 vaccine promotional campaign led by the Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA) titled "Got My Teeka: Increasing Vaccine Confidence and Uptake among South Asian Communities Disproportionately Affected by COVID-19 in Canada."
