# Tools for Humanity

**Tools for Humanity (TFH)** is an information technology company based in Berlin, Germany. It is also registered in the United States in Delaware, and has an office in San Francisco, California.[\[1\]](#fn1)

## History

[Sam Altman](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Sam-Altman) and Alex Blania co-founded Tools for Humanity in 2019.[\[2\]](#fn2)

On January 15, 2020, TFH applied for trademark protection in the United States for the name "[Worldcoin](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Worldcoin)."[\[1:1\]](#fn1) Further applications were made in September 2021 for "World App," October 2021 for "iris hash" and December 2021 for "World ID."[\[1:2\]](#fn1)

TFH launched Worldcoin in May 2023.[\[3\]](#fn3)
