# Temple University

**Temple University (TU)** is an American public research university in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

## History

In 2020, [Gates Philanthropy Partners](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Gates-Philanthropy-Partners) awarded Temple University a $600,000 grant for a project titled "Combating COVID-19: Protecting the Most Vulnerable."[\[1\]](#fn1)

Temple University's Acting President, JoAnne Epps, [died suddenly and unexpectedly](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Sudden-adult-death-syndrome) on September 19, 2023 while onstage during a livestreamed funeral proceeding for another Temple official.[\[2\]](#fn2)
