# Sherri Young

**Sherri Young** is a Canadian government official based in Victoria, British Columbia. She is currently serving as [Superintendent of Health Profession and Occupation Oversight](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Office-of-the-Superintendent-of-Health-Profession-and-Occupation-Oversight) within the [Government of British Columbia](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Government-of-British-Columbia), overseeing the regulatory colleges of over 120,000 health professionals.

## History

Young graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Environment Studies from Simon Fraser University (SFU), and completed a Master of Science in Planning from the University of Toronto in 2002.[\[1\]](#fn1)[\[2\]](#fn2)

### Career

Young began working for the [Government of Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Government-of-Canada) in 2004, spending five years in the Northwest Territories with Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.[\[2:1\]](#fn2) In 2009, she moved to the Yukon to work for Environment Canada's Canadian Wildlife Service as a manager.[\[1:1\]](#fn1)[\[3\]](#fn3)[\[2:2\]](#fn2) In 2014, she joined the Government of Yukon where she held leadership positions in the Yukon Department of the Environment and Yukon Department of Highways and Public Works.[\[3:1\]](#fn3)

On July 25, 2022, Young began serving as a commissioner for the Yukon Public Service Commission.[\[2:3\]](#fn2) She remained in this position until July 2024.[\[1:2\]](#fn1)[\[3:2\]](#fn3)

Young was announced as British Columbia's founding [Superintendent of Health Profession and Occupation Oversight](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Office-of-the-Superintendent-of-Health-Profession-and-Occupation-Oversight) on June 7, 2024.[\[3:3\]](#fn3)[\[4\]](#fn4) She began working in this new position in August 2024.[\[1:3\]](#fn1)
