Sherri Young

Sherri Young

Sherri Young is a Canadian government official based in Victoria, British Columbia. She is currently serving as Superintendent of Health Profession and Occupation Oversight within the Government of British Columbia, overseeing the regulatory colleges of over 120,000 health professionals.

History

Young graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Environment Studies from Simon Fraser University (SFU), and completed a Master of Science in Planning from the University of Toronto in 2002.[1][2]

Career

Young began working for the Government of Canada in 2004, spending five years in the Northwest Territories with Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.[2:1] In 2009, she moved to the Yukon to work for Environment Canada's Canadian Wildlife Service as a manager.[1:1][3][2:2] In 2014, she joined the Government of Yukon where she held leadership positions in the Yukon Department of the Environment and Yukon Department of Highways and Public Works.[3:1]

On July 25, 2022, Young began serving as a commissioner for the Yukon Public Service Commission.[2:3] She remained in this position until July 2024.[1:2][3:2]

Young was announced as British Columbia's founding Superintendent of Health Profession and Occupation Oversight on June 7, 2024.[3:3][4] She began working in this new position in August 2024.[1:3]
