**Mithril Capital Management LLC** is an American venture capital firm based in San Francisco, California.

## History

Mithril was founded in 2012 by Peter Thiel and Ajay Royan.[\[1\]](#fn1)

JD Vance joined the firm as a principal in April 2016.[\[2\]](#fn2) He departed in early 2017 to join [Revolution](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Revolution).[\[3\]](#fn3)
