Mackowiak** is an American political consultant based in Austin, Texas. He is the founder and president of [Potomac Strategy Group](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Potomac-Strategy-Group) (PSG), chairman of the Travis County Republican Party, vice president of the board of directors for the Texas Cowboys, and is a member of the Council for National Policy (CNP) and the Headliners Club.[\[1\]](#fn1) He is part of the leadership team for the [Mighty American Strike Force](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Mighty-American-Strike-Force) (MASF)[\[2\]](#fn2) and [Patient First Coalition](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Patient-First-Coalition).[\[3\]](#fn3) He formerly served as director of the Austin Community College Center for Public Policy and Political Studies and board member of the Balcones County Club.[\[1:1\]](#fn1) He has advised numerous political candidates and officials including Hugh Shine, Will Hurd, Harvey Hilderbran, Jeff Brown, John Ratcliffe, Sean Parnell, Pete Flores, Bill Flores and Conrad Burns,[\[1:2\]](#fn1) and previously worked at [Burson-Marsteller](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Burson-Marsteller).[\[4\]](#fn4) ## History Mackowiak served as a confidential assistant in the [United States Department of Homeland Security](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/United-States-Department-of-Homeland-Security) (HHS) in 2003-2004.[\[5\]](#fn5) He led operations for a county in Iowa for George W. Bush's 2004 presidential re-election campaign.[\[1:3\]](#fn1) He then worked as press secretary for Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison from 2007-2009.[\[5:1\]](#fn5) He founded [Potomac Strategy Group](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Potomac-Strategy-Group) in 2009, and served as campaign manager for Bill Flores for Congress in 2010-2011.[\[5:2\]](#fn5) Mackowiak was a 2016 delegate to the British-American Project (BAP).[\[1:4\]](#fn1) Mackowiak began serving as chairman of the Travis County Republican Party in 2017, and graduated from Leadership Austin's "Essential Class."[\[1:5\]](#fn1) In 2020, Mackowiak launched Save Austin Now alongside Democratic activist Cleo Petricek to improve living standards in Austin.[\[1:6\]](#fn1) On January 29, 2025, Mackowiak was named as one of "four senior operatives" managing the newly-launched Patient First Coalition, working to support [Robert F.
