# Kyle Bass

**J. Kyle Bass** is an American investor based in Texas.

He serves on the boards of the University of Texas Investment Management Co. (UTIMCO), the Troops First Foundation and the Texas Department of Public Safety Foundation.[\[1\]](#fn1) He is an advisor for the Center for Asset Management at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business.

He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR),[\[2\]](#fn2) and of the Committee on the Present Danger: China.[\[3\]](#fn3)

## History

Bass graduated from the Texas Christian University. He served as a managing director at Legg Mason, then worked at Bear Stearns.[\[1:1\]](#fn1)

Bass founded Hayman Capital Management in December 2005.[\[4\]](#fn4)

He participated as a speaker at the Milken Institute's Global Conference 2016 event.[\[1:2\]](#fn1)

Bass served as Chairman of the [Rule of Law Foundation](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Rule-of-Law-Foundation) as early as 2019, and was mentioned alongside [Steve Bannon](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Steve-Bannon) and [Guo Wengui](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Guo-Wengui) in their June 4, 2020 announcement of the launch of the [New Federal State of China](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/New-Federal-State-of-China).[\[5\]](#fn5)

In a message posted to Twitter, Bass claimed he was no longer a director of Guo's GTV Media Group as of July 9, 2020.[\[6\]](#fn6)

Bass co-founded Conservation Equity Management in February 2021 alongside Terry Anderson, with the company officially announcing its launch on February 3, 2022.[\[7\]](#fn7)
