# International Fact-Checking Network

The **International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN)** is a project of the [Poynter Institute](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Poynter-Institute) that collaborates with “fact-checking” organizations worldwide.

## History

In January 2020, IFCN launched the CoronaVirusFacts Alliance in order to counter “rampant misinformation” it had identified.[\[1\]](#fn1) [Facebook](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Facebook) and [WhatsApp](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/WhatsApp) provided $2,000,000 in funding for “flash grants of up to $50,000 for fact-checkers fighting coronavirus misinformation.”
