**Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED)** is a department of the [Government of Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Government-of-Canada).

## History

On August 5, 2020, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry Navdeep Bains announced the membership of the [COVID-19 Therapeutics Task Force](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/COVID-19-Therapeutics-Task-Force) and [COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/COVID-19-Vaccine-Task-Force).[\[1\]](#fn1)

On February 2, 2021, ISED signed a memorandum of understanding with [Novavax](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Novavax) to produce its COVID-19 vaccine candidate at [National Research Council Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/National-Research-Council-Canada)'s Biologics Manufacturing Centre.[\[2\]](#fn2)
