# In-Q-Tel

**In-Q-Tel (IQT)** is an American not-for-profit venture capital firm based in Arlington, Virginia owned by the [Central Intelligence Agency](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Central-Intelligence-Agency) (CIA).

## History

In 1998, Sue Gordon "designed and spearheaded the formation of In-Q-Tel."[\[1\]](#fn1) The Central Intelligence Agency announced its launch on September 29, 1999, describing it as a "partnership between the CIA and the private sector."[\[2\]](#fn2)

### COVID-19

Following the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic, IQT participated as a member of the [COVID-19 Healthcare Coalition](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/COVID-19-Healthcare-Coalition).[\[3\]](#fn3)

## Organization

IQT is primarily funded by the CIA, with additional funding from the [National Security Agency](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/National-Security-Agency) (NSA), the [Federal Bureau of Investigation](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Federal-Bureau-of-Investigation) (FBI) and the [United States Department of Defense](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/United-States-Department-of-Defense).[\[4\]](#fn4)

IQT is a corporate partner of the [NobleReach Foundation](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/NobleReach-Foundation).[\[5\]](#fn5)
