# Government of the State of New York

The **Government of the State of New York** is the governing body of the American state of New York.

## History

In June 2019, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill passed by the New York State Assembly repealing religious exemptions to vaccine mandates.[\[1\]](#fn1)

In September 2019, the state government entered a multi-year agreement with the [Boston Consulting Group](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Boston-Consulting-Group).[\[2\]](#fn2)

### COVID-19

The [Parkside Group](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Parkside-Group) was hired by Apicha Community Health Center with funds from the New York State government to "help raise [COVID vaccination](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/COVID-19-vaccine) rates in Asian communities in New York City."[\[3\]](#fn3)

On November 21, 2023, Governor Kathy Hochul sent a letter to top executives at Google, [Meta](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Meta-Platforms), TikTok, and Twitter "calling for increased monitoring of content that could incite violence."[\[4\]](#fn4)

## Organization

Departments of the state government's executive branch include:

- New York State Department of Health
- New York State Department of Motor Vehicles

The New York State Unified Court System is the judicial branch of the state government.
