It received self-reported influenza symptom data and displays it publicly on a map. It has since been relaunched as [Outbreaks Near Me](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Outbreaks-Near-Me).[\[1\]](#fn1) ## History John Brownstein launched HealthMap in 2006.[\[2\]](#fn2) In 2011, the film *[Contagion](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Contagion)* was released, centered around a fictitious pandemic.
