# Effective Ventures Foundation

The **Effective Ventures Foundation** is a British charitable organization based in Oxford, England. The organization was formerly known as the Centre for Effective Altruism.

## History

In September 2022, the Centre for Effective Altruism changed its legal name to Effective Ventures Foundation.[\[1\]](#fn1) The [operation based in the United States](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Centre-for-Effective-Altruism) remained with the old name for the time being.

## Organization

The foundation is governed by a board of five trustees: William MacAskill, Nick Beckstead, Tasha McCauley, Owen Cotton-Barratt, and Claire Zabel.[\[2\]](#fn2)
