# Decade of Vaccines Collaboration

The **Decade of Vaccines (DoV) Collaboration** is a supra-national non-governmental initiative “to increase coordination across the international vaccine community and create a Global Vaccine Action Plan.” It was launched in December 2010 in New York City, New York by the [Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Bill-&-Melinda-Gates-Foundation), [National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/National-Institute-of-Allergy-and-Infectious-Diseases) (NIAID), UNICEF and the [World Health Organization](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/World-Health-Organization).[\[1\]](#fn1)

## History

In January 2010, [Bill](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Bill-Gates) and Melinda Gates called for the following ten years to be a “decade of vaccines.” This was cited as the basis for the creation of the DoV Collaboration.[\[1:1\]](#fn1)
