# CoVariants

**CoVariants** is an online genomic sequence database that presents information about viral variants of SARS-CoV-2\. It is run by Emma Hodcroft of the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Bern and the SIB Swiss Insitute of Bioinformatics.[\[1\]](#fn1)

It uses data from the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID), and is partnered with [Nextstrain](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Nextstrain), Next.js and Vercel.
