# Constellis

**Constellis Holdings** is an American private security conglomerate based in Reston, Virginia. It is the current incarnation of [Blackwater](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Blackwater).

## History

Constellis Group, Inc. was established in August 2011 as a holding company for [Triple Canopy](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Triple-Canopy) and its subsidiaries.[\[1\]](#fn1)

The Constellis Group acquired [Strategic Social](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Strategic-Social) on March 5, 2014.[\[2\]](#fn2)

Constellis Holdings was formed in early June 2014 through the merger of Academi (formerly known as [Blackwater](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Blackwater)) and Triple Canopy.[\[3\]](#fn3)

On June 6, 2014, Constellis Holdings announced it would acquire Constellis Group and its holdings, creating a new combined conglomerate.[\[4\]](#fn4)
