# Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The **Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution** (C4IR) is a multinational policy development platform hosted by the [World Economic Forum](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/World-Economic-Forum), based in San Francisco, California.

## History

The opening of the C4IR was officially announced on October 10, 2016 in San Francisco. Attendees of the event included Marc Benioff, Penny Pritzker, Bernard Tyson, and Mike Wirth.[\[1\]](#fn1)

In January 2018, C4IR published a white paper titled "[Agile Governance Reimagining Policy-making in the Fourth Industrial Revolution](https://web.archive.org/web/20240322171159/https://www3.weforum.org/docs/WEF%5FAgile%5FGovernance%5FReimagining%5FPolicy-making%5F4IR%5Freport.pdf)."[\[2\]](#fn2)
