# BioProtection Systems

**BioProtection Systems Corporation (BPSC)** was an American biotechnology company based in Ames, Iowa.[\[1\]](#fn1)

## History

BPSC was founded in 2005 as a subsidiary of [NewLink Genetics](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/NewLink-Genetics).[\[1:1\]](#fn1)

### Ebola

On August 5, 2014, BPSC announced that it had received an initial $1 million contract from the [Defense Threat Reduction Agency](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Defense-Threat-Reduction-Agency) (DTRA) to bring the rVSV-ZEBOV-G vaccine candidate against Ebola to clinical trials. The candidate was licensed from the [Public Health Agency of Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Public-Health-Agency-of-Canada) (PHAC).[\[2\]](#fn2) Dr. [Robert Malone](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Robert-Malone) was tapped by the DTRA to lead the program.[\[3\]](#fn3)[\[4\]](#fn4)
