# Baxter International

**Baxter International Inc.** is an American multinational healthcare company based in Deerfield, Illinois. Its philanthropic arm is the Baxter International Foundation.[\[1\]](#fn1)

## History

Baxter was a diamond level sponsor of BC Kidney Days 2013, which took place October 24-25, 2013 at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia.[\[2\]](#fn2)

In December 2014, Baxter announced it would sell its Vero cell-based vaccine technology to [Nanotherapeutics](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Ology-Bioservices), including a production facility in Bohumil, Czech Republic. The sale included “all assets related to the Vero platform, including vaccines for H5N1, H1N1, and seasonal influenza,” as well as “investigational vaccine programs for Ross River virus, Chikungunya disease, and West Nile virus.”[\[3\]](#fn3)

### COVID-19

Baxter partnered with [Moderna](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Moderna) in March 2021 to manufacture the [Moderna COVID-19 vaccine](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Moderna-COVID-19-vaccine) product in the United States.[\[4\]](#fn4)

Baxter was a silver level sponsor for the World Vaccine Congress Washington 2022, which took place from April 18-21, 2022 at the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC.[\[5\]](#fn5)
