# American Association for Cancer Research

The **American Association for Cancer Research (AACR)** is an American nonprofit organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its sister organization is the American Association for Cancer Research Foundation.[\[1\]](#fn1)

## History

Pamela Ohashi, AACR's Tumor Immunotherapy Program director, participated in the [COVID-19 Therapeutics Task Force](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/COVID-19-Therapeutics-Task-Force) convened by [Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Innovation-Science-and-Economic-Development-Canada) (ISED).[\[2\]](#fn2)

In the first half of 2021, AACR received four grants from [Pfizer](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Pfizer):[\[3\]](#fn3)

- 2021 Annual Meeting ($25,000)
- Conference on Science of Cancer Health Disparities ($10,000)
- Evolving Tumor Microenvironment in Cancer Progression: Mechanisms and Emerging Therapeutic Opportunities ($5,000)
- 2021 Scientist-Survivor Program ($10,000)

## Organization

AACR is a member organization of the [Alliance for a Stronger FDA](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Alliance-for-a-Stronger-FDA)[\[4\]](#fn4) and a partner of the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer.[\[5\]](#fn5) It has previously provided funding to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.[\[6\]](#fn6)

AACR has signed memoranda of understanding with the [Food and Drug Administration](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Food-and-Drug-Administration) (FDA).[\[7\]](#fn7)
