**African Communities of Manitoba Inc. (ACOMI)** is a Canadian nonprofit organization based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

## COVID-19

ACOMI received significant funding to promote [COVID-19 vaccines](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/COVID-19-vaccine) during the declared COVID-19 pandemic.

It received a $50,000 CAD grant in July 2021 from the [Government of Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Government-of-Canada) for a project titled “ACOMI WE BELONG COMMUNITY VACCINE ADVOCATES PROJECT.”[\[1\]](#fn1) It was awarded through a grant program called “Encouraging Vaccine Confidence in Canada” jointly administered by the [Canadian Institutes of Health Research](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Canadian-Institutes-of-Health-Research) (CIHR), [Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Natural-Sciences-and-Engineering-Research-Council-of-Canada) (NSERC) and the [Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Social-Sciences-and-Humanities-Research-Council-of-Canada) (SSHRC).[\[2\]](#fn2)

ACOMI also received a $10,000 grant from the [Public Health Agency of Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Public-Health-Agency-of-Canada) (PHAC) through its [Vaccine Community Innovation Challenge](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Vaccine-Community-Innovation-Challenge) for a project titled “40 Community Champions,” and a second $10,000 grant for a project titled “We Belong - Vaccine Booster Advocate Project.”[\[3\]](#fn3)
