# AB Covid Records Verifier

The **AB Covid Records Verifier** is a Canadian vaccine passport application developed by the [Alberta Ministry of Health](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Alberta-Ministry-of-Health). It operates on the [SMART Health Card](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/SMART-Health-Card) framework.[\[1\]](#fn1)[\[2\]](#fn2)

## History

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney and Health Minister Jason Copping announced the launch of the AB Covid Records Verifier application in October 2021 as a way for "Albertans to easily show their vaccine record."[\[3\]](#fn3) At the time it was launched, it was not yet compatible with the SMART Health Card framework mandated by the [Government of Canada](https://www.whiteroseintelligence.com/Government-of-Canada).[\[4\]](#fn4)
